What do you think of electric bikes?

What do you think of electric bikes? I am thinking of getting one to ride to work since I have a physical ailment that keeps me from peddling a regular bike. So, are these things worth buying? Thanks for your opinions and reviews.

I like e-bikes and have 4 of them. You might want to check out V is for Voltage a forum for e-bikes and other alternative electric transportation.
